Step-by-Step: Adding Volunteers in MSP

1. Open the Volunteers Pane

Begin by navigating to the Volunteers pane in MSP — this is where all volunteer records are stored and managed.

2. Start a New Volunteer Entry

Click the "New Volunteer..." button, or the green "+" button if you are adding volunteers from the Web Admin view. This opens the volunteer profile editor.

3. Enter Basic Personal Information

In the profile editor, fill in the volunteer’s:

  • Full Name

  • Primary Contact Information
    — Email address (important for communications and web access)
    — Phone number (optional but helpful)

  • Address (optional depending on your ministry’s needs)

Providing accurate contact information ensures that volunteers receive schedules, announcements, and other messages.

4. Set Volunteer Qualifications

  • Use the Qualified Ministries field to specify which ministries this volunteer is able to serve in.

  • MSP allows you to assign multiple ministries per volunteer. This helps ensure they only get scheduled for roles they are comfortable with.

5. Define Availability & Preferences

  • Set Service Preferences. If a volunteer only wants to serve at the services listed in their profile, check the "Schedule only at these times" box.

  • Mark any Can't Serve Dates / Times

6. Save the Profile

After entering all relevant information, click "Save", or "OK" if you are in the Web Admin view.

The volunteer will now appear in your master list and can be scheduled for services and events.
