Normally, on a weekend that is split where Saturday falls on the last day of the month and Sunday falls on the first day of the next month, MSP will schedule the Saturday as the last weekend of the month it falls in, and Sunday as the first weekend of the month that it falls in.
There are a couple instances where you may want to be able to define this and are able to do so:
- Go to the Preassignments pane
- Create or edit an assignment for a volunteer who has an "X weekend of the month" pattern
Can't Serve Times
- Go to the Volunteers pane
- Select the volunteer
- Click Edit Volunteer
- Add an "X weekend of the month" can't serve time
These are the only cases where it may be necessary to define how the program acts on a split weekend of the month. In all other cases such as with block scheduling or the auto scheduler, the program will assign people normally.
In most cases, you will only want to use one of the following options. Here is how the options you find will work:
"Calc using preceding Sat"
If you only want to count full weekends, then when creating a preassignment or can't serve time on a Sunday, you will want to be sure to click the "Calc using preceding Sat" option for ALL of the Sunday preassignments or can't serve times you enter, regardless of what week of the month they fall on.
"Calc using following Sun"
If you want to group your Saturdays with the week that the Sunday falls on, then you will want to click the "Calc using following Sunday" option for ALL of the Saturday preassignments or can't serve times you enter, regardless of what week of the month they fall on.
If you do not want to group Saturdays or Sundays together, simply leave these boxes unchecked.
